When I ran the Kings Arms in Summertown many moons ago, I remember Graham coming in one night for the first time in a long time. When I asked him why he didn't come in more often he said it was because he didn't want to cause me any trouble if he'd had one too many, as he had too much respect for me. That moved me and just about sums up the person he was. Deep down he was a respectful and good man who's demon controlled his life. That's addiction. He didn't want it. He didn't want to hurt anybody, but with the best will in the world he couldn't help himself. Even when it hurt him the most.
